Releasing Intergenerational Worship and Spirit-filled Creativity
We are thankful at REC to have had a blessed and Spirit-filled Pentecost Family Worship! Our worship team was made up of members from REC Kids, English and Chinese and they led the whole church across all generation in praising God. Following Bishop Silas’ sermon, we had a special time of prayer as our pastoral staff and prayer team members stood at the four corners of the sanctuary and almost everyone came out from their seats to receive a prayer for the Holy Spirit’s blessing.
We were also encouraged by an art show put on by our REC Youth Group. Over the past few months, the REC Youth Group has participated in two serving projects, one focused on woodworking and the other on art. Our goal was to practically lead the youth into learning about how faith in God connects with and releases our creativity. The youth that chose to participate in the art project learned about some basic art theory as well how to express themselves artistically in response to our theme, which was on the Fruit of the Spirit.
Each of the six participants chose one of the fruit and created a painting on that characteristic. Their artwork, along with a written reflection, were compiled into a final piece and displayed in the lobby to share with our church family!
